Project 365 day 271: the end of summer

It wasn't a good day for tiny things - very windy, which made close up shots difficult to focus, and although I've posted quite a lot of small things recently as I've explored what I can do with the macro lens, this was the afternoon when the insects wouldn't keep still and the tiny flowers were all in deep shade. The Japanese anemones have been glorious, I love their pink and white petals, domed centres and crisp stamens, and now that many of their petals are falling it definitely feels like the end of the season. However, I liked the jauntiness of this denuded head, which was catching a bit of late sun in a shady border. I wish I felt that perky as we move into autumn.
