Piran

Day 5 Italy road trip
Yes, you are right, Piran isn’t in Italy but over the border in Slovenia. I woke up at the crack of dawn as the sun was coming up on Paradise Island, so did a tour with the camera, it was really beautiful. The tide was out, so not nice for swimming. The site shop was very low, in stock, but had delicious bread rolls for sale, so we had a lovely breakfast at the tent. After packing, we set off around the Gulf of Triest, and stopped at Duino to hike the Rilke train on the limestone cliffs, it was a lovely day, hot in the sun. After the hike, we drove around and had a walk around Trieste, another beautiful Italian City tumbling down from the cliffs to the sea. We decided to drive through to a campsite in Izola, Slovenia. Unfortunately there was absolutely no room, the next campsite in Piran was awful and terribly overcrowded. I found a B and B in Piran instead, in the middle of the old town, what a great place on a promontory, surrounded by the Adriatic, with so much history.
