Izola

Day 6 Italy road trip
After a great night in Piran, Slovenia, it was time to turn back north west and back towards Switzerland. First stop, Izola, such a pretty fishing town in Slovenia. Slovenia has a very short Mediterranean coast, and the towns are beautiful and well kept, very clean with lots of well tended flowers and plants. We had a coffee at one of the many back street cafes, then carried on over the border to Italy. We drove to Udine, yet another wonderful N Italian city, walking up to the castle, then around so many wonderful streets. We had a lovely v late lunch, a combination of melon, Parma ham, mozzarella, and bruschetta with tomatoes. So incredibly delicious.
On the road again, we headed up to the mountains, over a pass, then to a campsite, the only one for miles still open, it was the last night of the season. It was soon dark, and then lightening and thunder began. Once in the tent, the rain started too. The heavens really opened, the storm grew closer. I was a bit scared, but just tried to sleep!
