Tournament Time Again

I was thinking that it seems to be impossible to take a team photo of boys without them insisting on hamming it up. But then I realised that teenage girls really aren't that different - see here for evidence.

Last year I blipped our girls team at the Area Schools Tournament so this year it seems appropriate to blip our boys team.

These kids are amazing. 10 girls and 10 boys head off to another town to be billetted out and compete in a huge array of sporting and cultural challenges throughout the week. They hardly have time to stop - most of these lads had played basketball all morning and then football all afternoon - after playing half a day of touch rugby and half a day of volleyball yesterday (with some running, mountain biking, swimming, skateboarding, cooking, bowling, badminton, hunting, fishing and technology challenges thrown into the mix just so that they don't have time to get bored).

Tomorrow they'll take on at least rugby union, squash, softball - the other events I'm not sure of - then tomorrow night they'll all attend the most important part of the whole week - the dance.

Their chance to mix with 120 other area school kids from throughout the region. It is just as well that Friday is a public holiday because by the time they're delivered back to school on Thursday they won't be much more than very sore blobs.

I take my hat off to all them all. They are amazing.
