A fun tourist ride out to 'the place it all began' which, for parkrun is Bushy Park.

We left home early and arrived early to park near the start. We found the start, the toilets and quite a few of the resident deer. My travel companions were rather exited and there was a brief photo session.

Then we located the parkrun tree, the inspiration for the parkrun logo. The RD took our picture with the tree and offered to give us a shout out during the briefing. We were then excited to spot parkrun founder Sir Paul Sinton-Hewitt and chatted/took more pictures before making our way to the first timer briefing and then the start line where, we did get a shout out for our home event and got to start alongside the aforementioned PSH. Kate who is MUCH faster than me ran the whole way with him and took more pictures in the funnel.

The others are all faster runners than me but were walking to support Clare who is running her first marathon tomorrow. I am a much faster walker than them though and they pointed this out frequently as they jogged to.catch up.

We got back to the car park as it began to rain and enjoyed bucks fizz and cake before heading home.

What a great way to celebrate the 17th anniversary!
