In it to win it!

Following my blip of my pathetic artichokes on 30 sept I entered them for our allotment centenary show today and…1st prize! However there was only one other entry in the tubers class…some really small artichokes which were not even of similar size.
The extra is the table showing all the first prize winners with the judges. Overall there were less entries than in previous years but…you have to ‘ be in it to have a chance of winning’  and I’m sure more people could have submitted something.
There was also a big raffle butbI could stay until it was drawn, a competition for the biggest pumpkin ( by weight) and several competitions for children. Luckily the sun shone today.
So there was a very good turn out and some old friends who used to have alloTments, but have moved away, made the fort to visit which was nice. The cafe was open and there lots of nice homemade cakes to eat too.
Also a couple of members have put together a Book commemorating the 100 years of the Royal Paddocks Allotment. I bought a copy and will be interested to read the whole history.
