Across the bay

Mono Monday 18th century inventions: Swimming as recreation.

Looking across St Ives (Carbis) Bay towards St Ives from Gwithian.
Our last day here, the others have returned to St Ives for some browsing ... not my thing ... so I had a tripod and filters wander about the beach :-)

A very tenuous link to the theme for mono Monday, but the beach bathing machine was developed in the mid 1700s,  so I suppose the notion of a day swimming from the beach as recreation dates from then too?
No bathing machines needed now,  just change into your wetsuit in your car or van :-)
