Planned Disruption Disrupted!

Today had been in the calendar for three weeks. The big event was the Planned Disruption to our electricity supply to improve part of the local network. No electricity for the working day.

We had planned to go on a journey. However an unplanned disruption took place at 4:00 a.m! Despite optimistic messages from Scottish Power, the unplanned disruption was never resolved until late in the day.

There was plenty of hot water to shower by the light of a battery light, but no way of brewing coffee. Disaster!

A change of plan and we enjoyed a hearty breakfast at a fine farm shop on the road to Arbroath at 11:30.

Suitably replete we headed off to Cairn O’ Mount to experience the fine views over much of Eastern Scotland. Two hours later we arrived to find the viewpoint completely cloud bound.

Pressing on by way of Aboyne our next stop was at the antiques emporium of Dinnet Dave. Only to find that Dave had retired (a casualty of Brexit) and his premises were being converted into a restaurant.

We then headed off to Ballater by way of Burn Of Vat (photo courtesy of Pat).

Ballater was very busy and seems to be flourishing. We caught up with Sheridan’s the local butcher and exchanged news with our friends there. Naturally we purchased some venison.

The Blipfoto shows one of the local galleries. Apparently doing very well.

After a walk around the town we then headed home by way of Braemar and Persie Gin. Another good catchup and exchange of gossip.

The second extra shows the amount moss on the stone dyke and gate to the Persie Car Park.

On the way we passed through the Glenshee Ski Centre at a height of 2099 ft (according to the reading on the map of Cactus FBI.  The resort was shrouded in cloud and mist.

We then journeyed home to complete a journey of 175 miles. No problem filling up with petrol.

A quick stop at the Strawberry Hut to pick up Stawberries and Blueberries, we arrived home to find electricity restored. I then spent 30 minutes checking that all electrical devices were working as normal. Almost!

The Planned Disruption has been postponed to a later day. Another trip to be planned.

For supper we settled down to Pat’s Tuna Sushi which we would have enjoyed for lunch. She had made it at 4:00 a.m. by the light of her iPhone Flash.

It went very well with a new vodka that Persie has just distilled.
