Blackthorn Alley

I took a photo (and used it as my blip of the day) of “blackthorn alley” on April 21st, the day we were handed the keys to our new holiday home. The blackthorn looked gorgeous, and as I took the shot a blackcap was singing. Now there are lots of sloe berries, and the only songsters are the robins - always a wistful song to my ear, one of the sounds of this season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.

Holly on the Hill has been a lifesaver for us this year, and it’s good to be back, even for a brief overnight stay.
