Kemp Howe Stone Circle

Can you believe the Victorian railway builders built the West Coast main line straight through the middle of an ancient stone circle. Originally 24 m in diameter before being desecrated.
A day of seeking out ancient sites. The ones on Heughscar Hill are more picturesque. In extras is a collage of our wander around the hill,  bagging the Wainwright Outlying fell summit, visiting 2 stone circles and a standing stone.  Also the fine restored milestone near where we pulled off the road to sneak into the field and record the desecrated Kemp Howe circle for Blip
