On our way again

Messed up the photos today, still had the camera on "food" setting from dinner at Torrazzetta. Shall we call it art and pretend that it was intentional?

We skipped tonight's planned stop and headed straight for Modena after The Driver realised that we could make good time on the A1 with the lorries off the road as today is Sunday.

Some pretty countryside on the way to the Autovia but more terrible road surface and more terrible drivers speeding and crossing solid white lines. Then the SatNav tried to send us down a dead end and we had to make our way around some very narrow but busy roads to get back to where we started.

We hit a queue that turned out to be due to roadworks but honestly was more down to drivers going through the red light and causing chaos. When it was our turn we made it through on green with the light turning Amber as we passed. No kidding, at least six vehicles followed us through!

The last straw for The Driver was when we left the A1 and the toll barrier refused our tag. No idea why as it beeped just fine when we joined the road. He was so uptight by then that he just drove around the barrier in utter frustration. No doubt a fine will await us when we get home but he just didn't feel able to cope with a phone call in Italian. Nor did he think he could ask the drivers behind us to let us back up...

The camperstop here is quite good and was created by the local motorhome club. It offers showers etc. Quietly located but a taxi ride away from tomorrow's dinner.

Hoping tomorrow offers fewer challenges than today!

We are turning to home after here and hope to go via Austria and Germany, though weather may dictate otherwise. We'll pick the lane through the tolls that let's you pay cash, just in case the toll tag lets us down again.
