Beauty is all around us.

The Piggy Park Community Food Growing Venture.

The Feast Day of St. John XX111, Pope.

Today began as normal and it looked like it was going to be a happy, busy Monday. Arthur was in his cat cushion and not yowling, so that was nice. It is 13c outside and very dazzling sunshine.
Yesterday was International Tuxedo Cat Day. You all know Arthur is black and white, a typical tux. I had photographed Arthur for Facebook and he seemed happy about that.
Very sadly, I discovered through a friend today, someone I worked with on various eco projects has suddenly passed away last week aged 50. It was so unexpected and a dreadful shock. He was one of the most generous spirited, kind mannered, good humoured people I have been blessed to work alongside. He cared passionately about Fairtrade and was instrumental in turning our constituency into a Fairtrade Borough. That is a huge achievement and took a massive amount of work. He cared about conservation, and ran marathons for charity. I do, as a Catholic, believe in soul survival but his presence and efforts for Friends of the Earth and Prospects can not be replaced.
I have done this blip of the Piggy Park as a tribute. A good few years ago, he helped with all the work that was required to convert a park into a productive food growing area for Rishton residents. People grow a vast range of fruit and vegetables and there is a forest school  that the Primary Schools use. We can all do our best to keep our neighbourhoods thriving, grow food together and keep up the community connection. Support Fairtrade. It makes a good difference.
Thanks for dropping by and have a fruitful Monday blip friends.
