Mono Monday: 19th Century Inventions

For the Mono Monday theme of 19th Century inventions, I give you….. the battery.  Invented in 1800 by Alessandro Volta, he didn’t really understand how it worked and assumed it would provide a never ending source of power and that the corrosion of the electrodes was simply a nuisance.  It took Michael Faraday in 1834 to understand the chemical processes involved and to demonstrate that it was not an inexhaustible resource.
