Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

Gun battery to lichen garden.

And hee shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beate their swords into plow-shares, and their speares into pruning hookes: nation shall not lift vp sword against nation, neither shall they learne warre any more.

Isaiah 2:4. King James Bible of 1611

Instead of the proverbial swords and plough-shares as a metaphor of peace breaking out I give you a lump of concrete from a gun battery blown up at the end second world war that has now been transformed into a garden of lichens.

Sadly, we have thus far failed miserably to listen to the command that we learn not to wage war.
