Extinction Bell

Busy day in the office with extra filesystem issues thrown in for good measure. Ah well, just need to wait until they sort themselves out.

I managed a quick walk through the museum and had a look at the COP26 exhibition on climate change. It's really quite informative. I was well impressed by the Extinction Bell created by Luke Jerram in 2021 to raise awareness of biodiversity loss. The bell tolls randomly 150 to 200 times each day representing the number of species lost each day. It is estimated that the extinction rate is 1000 times higher than the natural rate. Climate change and habitat degradation due to human activity is creating an extinction event as big if not bigger than the event that wiped out the dinosaurs. Since we are part of this system we are destroying our own world.
