Almond Cake

Me, Mum and River baked a cake today. We used this almond-based recipe, minus the kirsch.

It was fun to make but I don't personally like the result. Part of the issue lies with it being soggy (underbaked, despite having had longer than the recipe recommended) but also the almond comes through strongly and I find I don't much enjoy that flavour combined with a cake texture. I prefer almond with a marzipan texture, you know?

And yeah, I didn't realise the cling film was throwing off the focusing so much or I'd have bothered to take it off for the shot. D;
