Buttermere

Friday 15th October 2021

We had to say goodbye to the rest of the group after breakfast. Thankfully we had decided to stay an extra night and we were rewarded with a gloriously sunny day, although it started with no clouds in the sky.

After a trip into Keswick we headed back to Buttermere to explore the end of the lake that we hadn't been to before. The reflections were superb when we reached the usual end of the lake so we did stop there for a while. We then walked down to the other end, where this was taken. Such a contrast from yesterday when it was so dull.

We had a full day out again. Back at base we did the usual shower and processing of photos and then went out to an Indian restaurant for a meal, a nice change from the week.

We returned back to base with the intention of reviewing our photos but it was such a clear night and the stars were out that I persuaded Sue to join me in some astro photography. We drove up the hill to a layby overlooking Bassenthwaite lake and had an enjoyable half hour photographing the stars. We finished off with by reviewing our photos ... with our wine, of course! :-)
