a lifetime burning

Droplets

It has been a relaxing Saturday in the very mild weather that we are having today.  There was initially a suggestion that we might have some fog and mist this morning, but instead we got low cloud sitting like a layer of mashed potatoes, so not a good morning for a landscape shot.  When things brightened up this afternoon I popped down to Chew to see if there was any sign of the Osprey.

The signs initially looked good, with a large clump of photographers all with enormous lenses mounted on tripods.  A quick discussion revealed however that while the bird was around, no one had seen it for quite some time.   I hung around for an hour or so and practiced taking photos of birds in flight, but with no actual sight of the osprey I left them to it and came on home.  This shot of an black headed gull in its winter plumage (thanks for the correction Stevvi)  is a poor consolation but we all have to take what we are given when it comes to birds on the wing.
