Definitely Autumn

Another lovely autumn day, forecast grey so afternoon sunshine was a nice surprise.   Ruth and I joined Mum, Chris and Barbara at Wharf for lunch.   A treat!   We risked taking Meg along and she was mostly very well behaved although we stayed a bit long and she  was in a volatile state  of mind by  the time we left, no doubt aroused by another dogs barking.

Back at my place Mum and Ruth embarked on a session of apple jelly making, Barbara having brought a bag of windfalls.  Not much juice yet but a suspicion that not enough water was added.  All will be redeemed soon.   I used the time to finish planting my bulb seed, a lovely afternoon to be outside.   Crocus banaticus, unique in having much larger outer petals than inner ones, is flowering outside in a trough between a couple of dwarf rhododendrons.

There's apple crumble in the offing, a walk to check the flat with Meg ... and a hopefully brief stint at work before the day is done.   A good one.
