Before they are gone

There was a moment today, no longer than the time it takes to draw breath, when I felt I was looking directly into the future. Nick and the children were outside cooking food on the barbeque and I was inside, making my way back to them. I caught sight of myself in the mirror and as I saw myself I could hear Murron laughing and suddenly I looked so old and the laughter could have been that of a grandchild. It made me sad. Just for one intense moment and then it was gone and I was outside and Rowan was saying 'Come sit by me.'

Days go by too quickly. Sometimes I wish I had a magic button I could press to freeze frame everything so that I could savour moments before they are gone.
