It’s all too beautiful

So much choice from today, our last half day in Venice.  The sun shone again, we went to a stunning shop owned by friends of Jo and Martin, full of glorious textiles and a few highly expensive but stunning coats and jackets designed by an architect with a tailor!  I bought a mac which will be useful back in the UK.

We then went to the Guggenheim, a legendary gallery, much smaller than I thought but with this stunning setting on the Grand Canal.  I particularly liked the landing poles of turquoise and white. The paintings were from a particular period and refreshing after so many churches and religious masters.  I also enjoyed the garden courtyard with Peggy Guggenheim’s grave.  She appeared to have been buried alongside all of her dogs!
