Hold on to your hats!

I made a rare trip into Cambridge today to find that the ARU graduation ceremony was happening in the Guildhall. I did my degree at ARU from 2001-04.

It was a life-changing experience intellectually and personally; I met one of my dearest friends during that time and enjoyed the best intellectual challenges of my entire life. In the early 2000s, ARU’s intake was about 50% mature students, so for our group it was the best place to be.

It was a hard three years - most of us worked too, had teenagers at home, lots of us were single parents or had other caring responsibilities. Socially it was, and I hope still is, incredibly diverse and welcoming. it was lovely watching everyone celebrating in the centre of town on a warm, breezy, sunny autumn day.

Both 2020 and 2021 ceremonies are being held this week. So my blip today celebrates ARU graduates past and present.
