The Blue Pool, Purbeck, Dorset

I'd booked train tickets to Wareham to visit friends in Corfe Castle. Unfortunately they were ill, but so as not to waste the tickets, I went for a blustery 11 mile walk from Wareham, across heathland to the Blue Pool. The colour is caused by light diffracting from minuscule particles of clay suspended in the water. Less blue than I expected, but still a very tranquil place.

And the rain held off till back to Wareham.
