Strange things in the woods.

A rather worrying find. This is just as I found it at the side of the path. Should I have
gone back home for a spade I wonder? I will keep an eye on the missing persons news
in the local paper.

A much better morning for walking. And found a new area in the woods with lots of fungi. Several
varieties including plenty of Stump puffballs which I blipped the other day.

My extra shows a new one which I have not found before in this area. My guess is that it is a Russula.
Possibly aurea, gilded brittlegill. But the book says this is uncommon but it was growing under Hazel which would be right. If I was a real enthusiast I would bring one home and use the microscope.
