BLIPFOTO is 17 years old!

Who would have thought that when my human posted her very first Blip on the 2nd December 2010 (see here) that she would still be Blipping today? Almost 11 years ago and she hasn't missed one single day.

So how did she start this addictive journey of recording her life in one photo a day? Well it's all due to 'Squiffy by the Sea' (who was Ann's boss at the time). He was a Blipfoto member and fed his photos through to FB. Even FB was a challenge for Ann in those days. And then one evening, after she'd had had one too many glasses of wine, she thought, 'I could do that?' ….......You seriously do not want to know how long it took Ann to take a photo of MollyCollie (my predecessor) with a proper camera, load it onto her computer and then set up a BLIPFOTO account.

…..........BUT................ once she'd done it, she felt like the most 'techie' person in the world. You've got to remember that 2010 was in the world before 'smart phones'. Well actually it might not have been, but Ann certainly didn't start taking photos with a phone until at least a few years later.

There was no plan to start recording her life through the eyes of a dog. It just kind of happened. And people seemed to like it. And everyone in the BLIP community was 'nice'. Ann had a 'routine' in the early years of BLIP. She'd take 'MollyCollie' for a morning walk, come home and have breakfast whilst browsing/commenting on the BLIPS from the previous day (on her laptop) before going off to work for 10am. In those early years she met so many lovely people in 'real life' that she is still in touch with today. Far too many to mention but you know who you are.

Unfortunately life over the last few years has become more technological and more busy (even though Ann no longer works set hours). She no longer even owns a camera. Her whole life is conducted via a phone measuring two and a half inches x five inches. Yes, she's old; she still measures things in inches? Who would ever have thought that would be the case in 2010?

These days my human is a 'very bad Blipper'. She doesn't really interact much on BLIP. These days she uses BLIP pretty much as a diary of our life. Having said that, she loves BLIP just as much today as she did in 2010.

…..............And if she were asked to sum up her very 'best experience of BLIP', then without a doubt, it would have to be the 13th January 2019 when she Blipped that 'MollyCollie' had passed away. (see here). The amount of love, compassion, empathy and understanding from the BLIP community was absolutely amazing.

My human can't actually imagine a day without BLIPPING. With Ann's help I've been BLIPPING since the day she adopted me (see here) and having a record of my life from when I was a weeny, teeny little puppy is just amazing.

WE LOVE BLIP.

HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY BLIPFOTO XXX

PS – In 2010 my human was living in Cornwall but now we're in Edinburgh where the whole BLIPFOTO journey began so here I am at the top of 'Blackford Hill' on a lovely sunny October day.
