Thursday: Apples, Garlic & Pickled Onions

It had rained a lot during the night and at some stage had turned to sleet, my car windscreen had a layer of “white stuff” over the wipers, brrrrr …
MrD went on a little shopping expedition to Asda, I had a few hours of family history.
We had cups of tea, then by lunchtime the weather had improved - I picked fresh salad leaves from the garden and greenhouse, watched Dame Judi Dench on Who Do You Think You Are - mentioned a few of the interesting topics to MrD and he’s found it fascinating too :-)
After lunch, MrD wrapped up warm and went for a walk - he hasn’t been for a very long time, he really enjoyed it!
I started peeling and salting the first batch of pickled onions, soaking them in warm water makes them easier to peel, I was wrapped up warm and outdoors doing this too - my eyes don’t water and less onion smell in the house!
Went to check on the James Grieve eating apples and sure enough the heavy rain had sent a dozen of them to the ground, slugs had started eating a couple so left them for the wildlife, leaving 10 very nice apples for us!
In 3 days the garlic have grown sooo tall, check out blip for 18th …
MrD went to the dentist late afternoon and brought Fish & Chips back for tea.
Stay safe & healthy & happy everyone :-)
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
