Stella's Washing

It was all go early this morning.....our friends preparing to get away by 9.15am to the funeral, me being ready by 9.30am for my spring outing with our districts craft group to Waimate.....no sign of the roofers again, feeling rather annoyed considering that we had been told by the boss that the crew would be putting in full days (Thursday & Friday).  However, when I got home mid afternoon a pleasant sight - the roofers were here and making some progress.

The story of this wall art - (taken from a plaque placed nearby the wall).
"Stella Chamberlain 1920 - 2014
In 2009 Stella became the first woman to be made a life member of the Waimate Rugby Club.
Stella washed the Waimate senior rugby side's jerseys for 35 years.  She never used a washing machine.   Instead, they were soaked in the bath, washed by hand and then put through the wringer.
Stella carried our this dedicated task for the Waimate Rugby Club while bringing up 13 children who all played netball and rugby at various grades for Waimate."

Covid - 129 new cases - miserable news.

We're away for the long weekend in the morning, so will catch up sometime.  Enjoy your weekend all.
