Day 18 Level 3 Lockdown Step 1

Today was cold, wet and very windy, so it was a good day to be inside catching up with the housework and also getting some work done. I’ve been avoiding walking the last few days as my left leg has been extremely painful, so hubby walked down to St Heliers to buy some fruit and, on his way back up the hill, found today’s blip for me.  He drove me to the church just down the road where he’d seen the subject of the blip so I wouldn’t have to put pressure on my leg and aggravate it further.

There is an organisation in the UK called The Crisp Packet Project (https://crisppacketproject.com), which turns crisp packets, biscuit packets and sweet packets lined with foil into blankets for homeless people on the streets. The project has reached New Zealand and, at the moment, is based at the church just down the road.  There is a display in a window at the front of the church explaining what the project is about and how people can help. The extra is a photo of the bin at the back of the church which is used to collect the crisp packets, etc., plus collared shirts.  What the connection is between the two, if any, we have no idea and why collared shirts are collected is an unknown as well.

There are 104 new cases of Covid-19 in the community today. Of the 104 cases, 91 are in Auckland, 8 in the Waikato, 4 in Northland, and one in Blenheim at the top of the South Island. This is the first positive Covid case in the community in the South Island since November 2020.
