Day 17 Level 3 Lockdown Step 1

I was inside working most of the day today, which didn’t matter as it was an overcast, miserable, cold day.

My blip for today is the meal we cooked for our supper tonight.  We tried Jamie’s recipe for Avocado Hollandaise, with poached asparagus and salmon, together with a dish that hubby concocted using cauliflower, a yellow pepper, spring onions and a couple of spices.  It was all delicious!

Another grim record on the Covid front today with 129 new delta cases announced in the community. That’s the biggest daily case count across the entire pandemic and the second triple digit day in a row. Of today’s cases, 120 are in Auckland and nine are in the Waikato.

The Prime Minister announced a new “traffic light” system that will replace the Lockdown Levels system.  It will come into play when all District Health Boards across the country are 90% double vaccinated.  There will also be a digital vaccination certificate that will give privileges to the double vaccinated. What will happen if we can’t reach that figure remains to be seen, but I think the PM is trying to “encourage” people to get vaccinated as soon as possible in order to obtain the privileges and to enable some restrictions to be lifted.  It’s going to be an interesting few weeks.
