York City 1 Chester FC 0

My first visit to York City's new ground and while it is nice and sparkling, with proper facilities, it completely lacks the character of the old Bootham Crescent. Perhaps the worst aspect is that it is located in a leisure/retail park on the outskirts of the city so while it used to be possible to comfortably walk from the centre it is now a drive and getting away after the game is a nightmare.

As seems to be the pattern with away day trips everything goes really well until the football starts. Today Rick and I reached York at about 10am so had plenty of time for some geocaching along the River Ouse and in the centre as well as a visit to the York Tap in the railway station which is a wonderful pub converted from the old tea room. If you ever find yourself on the station it is well worth a visit.

As for the football Chester didn't really deserve to lose but haven't scored for five games so it isn't difficult to see where the problems lie.

Thank you for all the hearts and likes for yesterday's photos. I also prefer the curlew picture but Im seeing how many different birds I can blip this year which is why it was relegated to the extra as I hadn't seen a dunlin. However I really appreciate you taking the time to look at both the main and the extra.
