Tree Frog ...

This morning I received "Unexpected Encounters", season magazine of the Rotterdam Blijdorp Zoo. The spring issue of this magazine is almost entirely devoted to a new, huge dome shaped building of twelve meters.

It is now already called a dream dome and will accommodate the butterfly garden Amazonica. In this new habitat, visitors can learn about the plants and animals of the Amazon. The dozens of species of butterflies from the same area have to play a leading role. During your walk along the river banks butterflies in large numbers will surprise with their variegated color range and fly from flower to flower.

I can hardly wait. For photographing special butterflies you're here more or less dependent on special butterfly gardens. And it's great to have such facility located nearby. This spring it's about to happen ...

So yet a bit patience ... In the picture another animal from the Amazon area. The Giant Waxy Monkey Tree Frog, Phyllomedusa bicolor. They are native to the Amazon rain forest of Brazil, Colombia, Peru and the Guianas. Some people find the giant waxy monkey a fascinating amphibian species to keep as a pet. I believe them, but it isn't for me ...

... however, I like to picture them ... ;)
