Sgwarnog: In the Field

Balanced

The chance to see Nephew #3 on the pitch a few miles from home helped lure out 13yo and 17yo to their first football game since before the onset of the pandemic. Hot chocolates helped ward off the chilling effects of a strong wind.

Pre-match entertainment took the form of watching three crows mobbing a Red Kite above the pitch. The kite withdrew. Would this sign of corvid strength be auspicious for the visiting magpies of Chorley?

Guiseley (white shirts) were hosting Chorley (red) in this National League North season. The visitors are on a good run and are currently up in the play-off spots. Guiseley have had a slower start to the season but their form has picked up in the past few weeks and they have been in good cup form - a tie at League One AFC Wimbledon awaits them in a few weeks. As one of our local teams we would normally be lending our support to Guiseley, but thanks to family involvement we were today very much behind Chorley.

The wind made conditions quite tricky, and it proved to be a balanced contest with few clear cut chances and ultimately no goals.

Today’s image shows Chorley on the offensive with Nephew #2 (wearing number 2) running forward to join the attack.
