Relief

The old kitchen units were soon removed and, by the end of the day, some new units were in place (see extras).

To my relief, no expensive horrors were revealed. Although the kitchen was put in more than 20 years ago, I wouldn't have replaced it but for the fact that the joint between the plastic internal waste pipe from the sink and the external cast iron waste failed about five years ago. It was leaking water under the units, damaging to the plinth and creating a permanent pool of water! Also, as was confirmed today, small areas of concrete floor were subsiding as it soaked away, leading to cracked tiles. So, the whole job was overdue!

Django didn't like the noise, but enjoyed the company of the guys working on the kitchen. Kermit is clearly rather upset. The route to his cat flap has been a building site all day, and now his food is being served on top of a book case on a different floor of the house, and he can't keep an eye on his garden whilst eating! What cruelty!
