End Of The Season

You know the good weather is definitely over when Himmelreich closes.  I caught the guy screwing the "Geschlossen" plate on and felt the usual pang that we don't eat here enough - mind you, it couldn't be every week, I'd be the size of a house at the end of summer, instead of the svelt little bungalow* that I am.

It was a telephone day.

A four hour presentation from senior management this morning where they said the same things over and over for four hours.  Absolutely riveting.

Then an online conference this afternoon - 4 presentations each an hour long.  It was weird.  Everybody presented their piece in English (or their best attempt at English), some were better than others is the best I can say.

And now I'm on holiday for nearly 2 weeks.  The thing that pleases me most is I'm not working for the next 2 Mondays.  That makes my heart sing.

The jug displayed on the sign for Himmelreich is something traditional here in South Hessen.  It's called a Bembel (der Bembel).  It's used for serving Apfelwein (another tradition hereabouts).  I really like them.  And still have never tried Apfelwein.

*nothing upstairs you see.
