One of several sundials.

The garden of Broughton House, a National Trust for Scotland property, in Kircudbright. Hornel, one of “the Glasgow Boys,” bought the house in 1901 and made it his studio etc. Hornel and his sister designed a beautiful in-part Japanese style garden, with sweeping views over Kirkcudbright harbour and the River Dee. The photo is part of the garden near the house; I read somewhere there’s 4 sundials!

Kirkcudbright was as nice as we remembered. It still has arty places, some independent shops and lovely well maintained buildings.

We walked on the mudflats here at low tide before lunch. The wind was stronger than yesterday - it was pushing the tide in and also affecting how it came up the bay.

Windows rattling again this evening. A storm is coming - 36 hrs of rain ahead.

Good family FaceTime - they’re well.

2262 new covid19 cases in Scotland; sadly 20 more deaths. Listened to a contribution from David Nabarro, WHO covid19 lead, on precautions in place re the COP26 in Glasgow. Clearly a potential for impact with so many attendees etc.
