“When you walk through a storm…..”

I didn’t write very much in yesterday’s blip as there has been so much going on with the family since the weekend. They had been away for a week up till Saturday October 23rd.
It has not been good after their return to our house, and we came to stay at our friends’ home once more for a week. (Such a blessing and very fortuitous as it turned out)

We hadn’t been back to see them all since being there for a few hours on Sunday, when we made the lunch.
On Monday it was mutually decided that until our two granddaughters had recovered from their colds and not feeling well, that we wouldn’t visit for a few days.
They also decided to take our eldest granddaughter, 9 yrs old, along with the youngest 2yrs old for PCR tests to be on the safe side. .
Tuesday: They messaged us to say the eldest had got a positive result and had isolate for the next 7 days, having had the symptoms for 48 hours. Our youngest one was negative thankfully. They were themselves going to be tested.
This means we cannot go home now at least till next week on Thursday 4th November.
Tuesday afternoon: We both went to get ourselves tested at a walk-in test centre near here. Booked through the Track and Trace.
Wednesday: We have a message to say our son and d-I-l have both tested positive for the virus.
That means they have to isolate now until Saturday November 7th.
Plus having the four children not being able to go out at all due to that.

Wednesday afternoon: Our tests thankfully came back negative.
It is SO hard knowing we cannot give them any help not being able to set foot in our house with them all for another 10 days.
They’ve organised home delivery shopping from Sainsbury’s at least.
We can keep in touch by the usual FaceTime and WhatsApp, but it isn’t the same when they are just a 10 min drive distant.
We are thankful not to have the virus ourselves.
Otherwise we would have had to go home and all of us be in the house together without going out.
Obviously when our lovely friends return here on Saturday we needed somewhere else to stay for another week.
We booked ourselves in to a Holiday Inn which offered a good rate on Bed and Breakfast. It’s about a 25 min drive away. (Not the City Centre one).
Being able to do some washing here yesterday and put it out on the line was also a blessing. As we can’t go home..
Some of our other friends have offered their laundry facilities for next week.
We are so very thankful for friends who help and support us through all this roller coaster of a ride.
We went for another walk yesterday morning whilst waiting for our test results.
This time New Hall Valley Country Park, a ten minute walk away from where we are staying presently.
So good to have these lovely breathing spaces to enjoy.
I took the photo there yesterday.
I am writing this blip very early! It’s now 6.00a.m.
Time for a cuppa!
