Norwich Market

Well this is as close as I've got to Norwich market for quite a while. This morning I cleared the gutters at the front and cleaned the windows at the front - the back can wait for another day, not least as the rain arrived. I then watched Ammonite, which I'd been waiting to see for a while. An ok film in itself, but it didn't meet my expectations. I was expecting it to be mainly about the work and genius of Mary Anning, fossil hunter and palaeontologist, but it was mostly about a fictional lesbian affair she might or might not have had. She struggled to be taken seriously at the time in a scientific world that didn't recognise work undertaken by women - she absolutely deserved better than this film.

Day 592 / Day 103 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The R rate in England has risen again to 1.1 - 1.3, with a daily infection rate of 1% to 3%. The ONS weekly infection survey of private households to 22nd Oct shows 1 in 50 with the virus in England (up and same as peak 2 in Jan), the SW is the new hotspot; 1 in 75 in Scotland (up); 1 in 40 in Wales (up); and 1 in 75 in NI (up). Wales is tightening up restrictions which are already more robust than in England, they include Covid passes for cinemas, theatres and concert halls from 15th Nov. A combined total of 7.3m booster / 3rd primary jabs have now been given, a considerable improvement from a couple of weeks ago. A revised no. has been given for jabs in England to 12 to 15 year olds, it's a paltry 19%. Russia says that at least 44,265 people died of Covid in Sept.
