Bristol Street Art

Sunday October 10
It was a lovely morning, and after a good breakfast at the hotel, we set out for a walk around the harbor area, before joining a Bristol Street Art tour at noon. Our tour guide, from Where the Wall, was very informative. Having been part of the street art scene himself, he was able to provide insights into the life and work of Banksy, and reveal the stories behind the paintings and the culture that makes Bristol the street art and graffiti capital of the UK. The tour started near the cathedral, and ended in an area called Stokes Croft, a rather run down area, full of graffiti, which the local council are seeking to “gentrify”, but the locals are resisting. From there, we walked towards Brandon Hill and Cabot Tower, passing the Christmas steps on the way (see extras). We stopped for a drink and a bite to eat at a microbrewery near the Christmas Steps, enjoying a great view from its balcony. We continued walking, via Castle Park and Castle bridge, and finally back to the harbor area as the sun was going down (see extra)
