Lots of E-Bikes!

Our travels continued today with a trip into central London for a lunchtime family party to celebrate the recent marriage of one of my Editor's nieces who is head teacher at a school there (the wedding itself took place last week on a beach in Barbados!). It was lovely to see lots of members of the family whom we hadn't seen for a long while - partly because of Covid but also because they're quite widely spread geographically.

My blip was taken as we walked back from the party to the tube station - we looked down into a deep "pit" and saw this mass of rental bikes. We discovered that they're "Lime-E" bikes* - the sort of bikes which can be hired wherever they were last left by scanning a QR code on the bike with an app, but unlike many such bikes they're electrically assisted. This must be one of their bike stores. I thought as we looked down on them in neat rows that they reminded me a little of looking down at the Terracotta Warriors! (It seemed odd that although they're called "Lime" bikes the London versions are mainly red - although they do have a bit of lime green colour on them.)

We're now back in Reading for our last night staying with my brother; tomorrow we'll be visiting one of my Editor's distant cousins in Teddington before beginning our journey back north.
