Gas explosion destroys house in Callander

Over to Callendar (those of a certain age will remember this as the location of Dr Finlay's Casebook) to see the house destroyed in a gas explosion .

It happened at 5.30 yesterday morning.

The occupants, Robin Cunningham, age 77, had to be airlifted to hospital and his wife Marianne, age 74 was treated in hospital too.

The devastation was shocking all the more so because this is such a neat quiet street .
There was nothing left of their bungalow, and their possessions could be seen amongst all the rubble.
It was like something from a war zone.


Locals say the couple had recently had a new gas boiler installed.

Marianne has been allowed home with minor injuries though her husband still remains in hospital with burns.
