Saying good-bye

A few weeks ago, on Al's birthday, we passed a bad accident near our home without realizing it was someone we knew.

He had been sitting at the end of a line of traffic at a construction zone, and was hit from behind by someone distracted and not paying attention to the stopped cars.  Heart-breaking, and so needless.

Now he and his wife will not be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, which would have been in December.

Today, he was laid to rest at the National Cemetery, a place where outdoorguy goes often.  Here is my homage to both the man and the place.  It was beautiful and peaceful there today.

So sad.
