Photographic Poeticisms

Empty

Empty
And alone
In the distance
I can see
My fast approaching
End
No one is here
To mourn
To say their last goodbyes
No one
Will stand at my grave
And weep
No one will cheer
For I am
A no one
Not a someone
Who lived their lives
Surrounded
By family
Friends
Whose children
Laughed around their feet
And granchildren
In their turn
Invoked their right
To have their granddad
Fight their corner
Support them
Be their saviour
As I
Invoked my rights
Time and again
When
As a child
I was surrounded
By parents
Grandparents
Love
And knew not loneliness
As I now
Know
Loneliness
As I now
Walk
Slowly
Towards my end
Knowing
I walk
Alone
