Eastern Rosella

Up at the Park a bit earlier this morning, but not as early as we would have liked. Many, many birds around - we know there were, because we could hear them. Not so easy to see though. There has been a thickish layer of cloud this past two days which flattens the light - absolutely no sun at all.

There seems to be a fair bit of nesting activity. We saw both Rosellas and Lorikeets checking out holes ready for nesting.

I particularly liked this pair of Eastern Rosellas (Platycercus eximius) because (a) it's a new one for BigBlipYear, and (b) they are showing signs of nesting activity. We see them in the garden occasionally, usually when food is scare elsewhere.

As ever I had the wrong lens, but you do what you have to do, in this case, crop in very very tight. So it's going to be a bit of a mess in large.
