Meadow Argus

Nothing like as change to scene to recharge the batteries, so today we left Mish at home, and headed off out for a drive.

We would have taken her with us, but as we were going to an alpaca farm it wouldn't have been the best idea. She's very bouncy, and alpacas don't really like dogs.

We've been to this place before as an Open Garden, but this week is Alpaca Week, so it was all about alpacas. Which are, of course utterly beguiling, and incredibly photogenic. I'm going to leave it to the Rower to show you an alpaca.

We did eat an alpaca sausage, which was delicious, despite being under the gaze of those gorgeous big brown eyes, which are fringed with eye lashes that would do a Hollywood starlet proud.

But this butterfly is a Meadow Argus, which supposed to be common, but I've never seen one before. It is very beautiful, but bloody hard to photograph, on account of it opens and closes its stunning wings as it sips nectar; all the while doing a stately pirouette.
