La vida de Annie

Strelitzia.

The rain has caused this little chick to hatch out. The bird of paradise shrub in the garden, that is. Good for an EFB.
Amusing story today. My lesser other half often walks the dogs along the coast on the cami de cavalls towards the Favaritx lighthouse (about 9 km) and I pick them up in the car at the other end. Today was such a day, but neither of us realised that a cycling and running event was scheduled and hundreds of sporty and not-so-sporty people would be pouring towards them in the opposite direction, and that I would not be able to meet them as planned because the police had closed the access road. Part of the track by the salt flats was flooded with two feet of water after yesterday's storm, and they had to wade (and in the dogs' case, swim) through it. I would have turned back at that point, but no, they had to complete the walk as planned, despite the cycling and running hordes splashing past. An officious guy marshalling the event pulled him up, saying you can't walk dogs in this area, it's protected for the wildlife. He was unimpressed by the argument that two small dogs on leads were less likely to disturb the birds than hundreds of people crashing through, and insisted on taking the miscreant's name, which he wrote down: Mike Hunt. In Spanish the letter H is silent.
And no, that's not his name.
