Approaching JFK

Tuesday Oct 19
There was quite a line at the airport to get our Covid paperwork checked, but other than that, it was a fairly smooth check-in, and we had sufficient time to have breakfast while we waited for our gate number to show on the board. It was a good flight. I watched a film, did some reading, we had a meal and a snack, which even included a small cream tea - not up to National Trust standards however! So it didn’t seem too long before we were approaching JFK along the string of barrier islands off the south coast of Long Island - according to my phone this is Robert Moses State Park. The problem with our trans-Atlantic flight being changed was that we were then faced with a 7-hour layover in JFK! We usually like to have 2-3 hours to allow for the first flight being a bit late, and long immigration lines, but 7 hours is rather excessive! Immigration was actually relatively quick today, but we did have to change terminal and go through security again which was a bit of a pain. More reading, playing games on my iPad, wandering round, another meal (not very good), and it was finally time to board. We arrived in Cincinnati about 10.30 pm local time (3.30 am according to our body clocks!) and Laura was there to meet us. A long day, and good to get back into our own bed!
