#374

The heats for the final this evening of the Red Bull Chasers cycling event, started at 6am , so by the time His Lordship and I sashayed forth at 9 am they seemed all but over.

The heats were open to amateur riders cycling all sorts of bikes, but only the 30 fastest of them would go forward to compete with 10 invited elite cyclists in the steep uphill elimination rounds in the evening event in the Grassmarket and Victoria street.

We waited long enough in the sleet flurries to catch #374 flying up the hill of Cockburn Street over the cobbles slick with sleet and on tyres so thin one might have been tempted to think they could get caught in the ill fitting road surface.
It's hard to think that his time could be bettered.
