Hokusai at the BM

I had an hour to kill in Bloomsbury around lunchtime so I dropped in to the British Museum. There is a jewel of a little exhibition of brush and ink drawings by Hokusai, he of the Great Wave - the print with Mount Fuji in the background behind a breaking wave.

The drawings in the show were a collection spotted a few years ago and purchased by the BM. And what treasures they are (see extra for an example). They are the size of postcards and you have to press your face up to the glass to study them. The collection must be worth a fortune - each one would be a joy to own.

On the way out these young women agreed to a photo in the great hall. They were happy to oblige but seemed a bit baffled.
