Wanderings & Witterings

Abbey

An excellent day out with the Ramblers in and around Culross. Always a bonus when it's sunny and dry and once we got going it wasn't too cold either.

Our route took us out and around Preston Island, which isn't actually an island, to visit the salt pans, more accurately the ruins of a salt processing operation, then back into the historic village, up to the ruins of the Abbey (today's Blip), along to the ruins of the old West Kirk with its 17th century gravestones and then a there-and-back section to visit the graves of three children from the same family who died from the plague in 1645.

Lots of history, great views and good company. As I suggested earlier, the good weather also lifted the communal mood somewhat.
