About to call for a parent

We went to Auckland today, to spend time with the family, and also to check on the (lack of) progress in the work at Woodlands Park. The morning weather was further persistent rain, both here at Fidelis and also in Auckland. By the time we returned it had stopped raining and the drive was very pleasant.

I had put out some seeds and a few chunks of grain bread this morning, during one of the short breaks in the rain. By this evening, only sparrows were seeking food on the food tray. This morning (in the rain) I had seen a chaffinch before a spotted dove arrived to chase it away.

Eventually only this one juvenile sparrow remained, and little of the food was left Just after this photo was taken, it flew up onto part of the pergola and started cheeping loudly, seemingly for help in finding food.
